Halloween is officially on Saturday, and let us guess, you’re still struggling to come up with a costume…
Doesn’t this happen every year? You tell yourself, “This year will be different! I’ll figure out my costume weeks ahead of time. And then at 5pm on Halloween night, there you are, tearing up your room attempting to throw something together. Not surprisingly, your costume approval ratings have been abysmal.
So consider this your pre-emptive emergency blog. When and if you’re stuck in this situation, you can consult us at no charge. And because we live and breathe denim, all last minute closet costume ideas are jeans inspired. But of course.
Guys: you’re probably in more need than the ladies, so we dedicate the first segment of this rescue blog to you. Here are our top 3 favorite jeans friendly Halloween ensembles:
1. Zack or Slater from Saved By the Bell.
If you’re going for Zack, not only will you need some moose, but you’ll need to pull out your old school light wash denim jeans for the full affect. Also, remember to prepare your best one-liners for the ladies.
DISCLAIMER: We take no responsibility for the success or failure of your efforts with females.

2. Russell Brand.
That British guy with the crazy hair who’s always shouting and wearing skinny jeans. We recommend you practice the accent before making a party appearance. Right-o.

3. Napoleon Dynamite.

Skinny jeans, it’s time to meet your match. Enter: the boyfriend jean.
In case you just happened to miss one of the biggest fashion trends this fall, the boyfriend jean has stepped on the scene as a form of backlash against the skinny jean.
You see, where skinny jeans are tight and fitted from your butt to your ankles, boyfriend jeans take a different approach to molding to your beautiful body.
Boyfriend jeans, as their name implies, are meant to look as though you had borrowed jeans from your man (and here at indiDenim, we fully support stealing clothes from your significant other). And although they don’t necessarily have to be hijacked from your bf, they must be loose and relaxed all around.
Now here’s the key. Boyfriend jeans combine the best of comfort and style, but since this jean is designed to look two sizes too big, you must be careful not to end up looking disheveled and frumpy.
So pair your best pair of boyfriends with a cute T or sweater and your favorite heels or ballet flats. Add a scarf, and you and your boyfriend jeans (sans boyfriend) are set for a lovely fall afternoon at the farmer’s market or, of course, a therapeutic trip to the mall.

But before we go, we need your input. You see, we’ve been a bit torn about the boyfriend jean since it made its debut. indiDenim is all about *perfect* fitting jeans, and given that the boyfriend jean is pretty much the antithesis of your perfect fitting pair, what’s a custom jean company to do?
So we’re asking you! What do you think? Should we break down and add it to the line up? Or should we hold our ground and stand by the denim ideals we’ve grown up with? Leave your comments and help us decide!

We all know guys who swagger down the street, clutching their belts and spreading their legs, so that their sagging jeans, four sizes too big, don’t fall down. Prefer a visual? See the example below.

Hip hop baggy style jeans became popular in the late 80’s, but the style didn’t become mainstream until the mid-nineties. Some people hope that this fashion statement would slip away just like the jeans themselves do in many a wardrobe malfunction. In fact, some hate this style so much that sagging is actually outlawed in parts of Georgia, Louisiana, and Michigan. Unfortunately, I have bad news for those who want to ban sagging—baggy jeans are not a fad; they’ve been with us for twenty years and they’re here to stay. Neither laws nor lectures will keep jeans up.
Baggy clothing itself has been in style much longer than twenty years and has always symbolized wealth and opulence. Excess material shows that the wearer can afford to purchase more fabric than necessary to cover the body.
Some might be surprised to hear that medieval monks preferred clothing similar to the style that upstanding citizens are now prohibiting. That’s right! Monks liked to sag, too. The monks wore their sleeves several feet longer than their arms, dragged their hems on the ground, and had hoods large enough to fit multiple heads.
Need proof? Check out the hip monk with his sweet threads below.
